Hi folks,

I've disabled the new user registration option because we've been getting a lot of spammers signing up; although they never posted on any of the boards because they don't have the right permissions by default; it was getting to be a pain deleting the accounts in order to keep things tidy.

So from now on, if anyone wants to register a new account for an NPC or a secondary character or a character, please email me at jess(AT)usshorizon.org to enable the board registration option for you. Ultimately, prod Albert if I'm not around.

User registrations re open again. I've installed something that should hopefully keep the weirdos at bay. In case legit users have a problem registering, or once you register, you wish to post, contact jess @ usshorizon . org

Unregistered users, Please note:

In an attempt to fight spammers even further, we have had to take more extreme measures to keep them away. We've added a host of email domains and a few IP addresses that are associated with spamming message boards to the blocked list on the vBulletin boards.

Most of these are located over at vBulletin-FAQ site as well as the resources and lists located at StopForumSpam.

We do not ban individual email addresses, but we do ban entire domains if they start becoming a problem. Since we cannot review each and every email address domain ourselves, on a safe side we had to put them all in. That also means that it's likely to have caught someone legit and you may have trouble registering. In fact we've already had a query about that. If you have trouble registering because your email domain or IP has been blocked, fill out the Contact Us form located on the bottom of the forums. Make sure to include which address you tried to register with, and if you know the IP address you had at the time, include that as well, so we can check it from our side and take the block off, at least temporarily, to let you join the boards.
