Janzie

Name: Janzie (John-z) Kyle
Birthdate: Aug 24th
Age: 34
Height: 5’9”
Marital Status: Divorced (Leroy Jenkins)
Origins information (Classifed Information)
Race: Chameloid*
Place of Birth: Chameloid home world
*Known only by Jackie Clawson and Leroy Jenkins at this time. Everyone else believes she is the Human she appears to be.
Family:
Janzie hasn’t seen her family for years since leaving her home world to explore the galaxy. But when she left she did have parents, and several siblings. She had not met any of them since she left that she is aware of. She was married for a time, but the marriage was ended after she disappeared.
Physical Appearance:
As a Chameloid she can be appear to be almost anyone, changing her features (including eye color/appearance) and descriptive details at a whim (though is restricted to humanoid life forms, those with additional appendages above the 2 arms and two legs, such as additional arms, legs, and tails, only come with a large amount of practice). In most cases she will appear and scan as the species/individual she has shape shifted into. Detailed molecular scans/blood tests will reveal what is actually taking place however, though even then one does need to know what to look for. She does not avoid sickbay, but has become quite skilled at taking care of her own minor injures. During her academy days and early Starfleet assignments, she did fake blood tests until an accident revealed her real species. She rarely if ever shows what her ‘natural’ appearance is.
As with her early academy days, she generally appears as a human female:
Race: Humanoid, Gender: Female
Height: 5’9 Hair Color: Short, very dark brown
Weight: 155 lbs. Eye Color: brown
Body type: Athletic
For civilian wear, she is generally seen wearing a long black trench coat, tight black leather pants with high heeled ‘hooker’ boots, and short or long sleeve fitted black shirt/tank. Depending on the circumstances she will wear replicated clothes instead of simply appearing to wear clothing. (This can restrict her shape shifting ability).
Description of character:
Janzie was originally a quiet, shy and naive young woman. Janzie had initially worked hard, since leaving her home world as a young adult, to dispel the continued misconception of shape shifting species and would often be chastised as a result. Through out her academy days she retreated within herself and only socialized with a few close friends.
Once she was asked to resign from Starfleet for the impersonation (through graduation and initial posting) of a fellow cadet, she had to finally grow up. After years on her own and living day to day, hand to mouth, she has come to be a very cynical, skeptical individual, often appearing to question her superior’s orders if the reason for an order or action isn’t clear to her.
Her desire to help others, explore the galaxy, and somehow prove that not all shape shifting species hate ‘solids,’ is still strong. She returned to a friend, still in Starfleet, in hopes of rejoining Starfleet.
Psychological Profile:
It is not hard to figure out that she keeps to herself and is rather introverted, but tends to have a ‘tough guy’ persona when interacting with people until she gets to know them. She keeps a lot about herself private. When the situation arises, a ‘get it done’ attitude emerges that came about as a result of many rough years on her own after her Starfleet dismissal/resignation.
Regarding her impersonation charge, she believed that helping her friend would be temporary and that she would be able to return to her own cadet schooling, as well as her spouse, after a week or two. But as weeks turned into months, to reveal what she had done became harder and harder. The promise to assume her fellow cadets life became her life at the cost of her own career, her marriage, and eventually the life of her friend as well.
It was deemed by Starfleet for Janzie to voluntarily resign from her assumed Starfleet career as a Ship’s Counselor in exchange for her true species to be sealed behind the classified designation.
She still holds deep regrets for all those she hurt in the process of her deception, but acknowledges her mistakes and hopes to move on.
Personal History:
She left her home world as a young adult to see the galaxy (instead of hiding from it) as a member of Starfleet.
Janzie enrolled in Starfleet, with help from the man that eventually became her husband, Leroy Jenkins. As a favor to a recently joined Trill friend, she agreed to ‘host’ the memories of one of her friend’s hosts. The memory could not be returned, but the mishap was hidden from the symbiosis commission. While her friend attempted to ‘get herself back together’ and figure out what to do, she had Janzie promise to impersonate her rather than take leave from the academy or admit to Trill why the memory transfer might have failed to be reversed.
As Janzie impersonated her Trill friend, she received academic degrees in psychology and botany, continuing to pick up computer and security system courses still on the side when she could.
Several years later, her friend ultimately returned to Trill but on her deathbed and the symbiont given a new host. The new host sought Janzie out where she was assigned as a Counselor aboard a starship. After being discovered and the revelation of what she had done as a cadet, the potential of being chastised by the trill community, and the general distrust of shape shifters, Janzie left Starfleet.
Janzie spent the next several years roaming the galaxy putting her skills to use as one who could get any piece of information…for a price… though how she accomplished this she kept to herself. Shape shifters were still a hunted minority in and out of the Federation.
Janzie most recently spent time (7+ years) in a Cardassian Dilithium mine when she ended up in the wrong place at the wrong time. At the time of her capture she appeared to be a Klingon male, and remained as such for the most part during her stay at the mine, until she and others broke out, and found herself a member of a mercenary group.
Professional History:
Education: Starfleet Academy, graduated Lieutenant Junior Grade (while impersonating Deborah Zel a joined Trill). Extra course work in Botany and computer science.
Assigned as Ships Counselor USS Voyager (NCC 12899 D, Sovereign class) until after impersonation discovered. Leaves less than a year later.
Freelance, self entrepreneur. Used her talents as a shape shifter doing almost anything that paid. Generally returning stolen items, spying on lovers and corrupt officials, etc…
Spent time as an infiltrator/body guard in various mercenary groups. Preferred hand to hand combat though has practical experience in most Federation species weaponry and security protocols. Has a surprising knowledge of old Federation vessels (that several merc groups liberated from Federation ship yards or scavenged for parts.)
More species related information:
A unique feature of the Chameloid is its ability to shape shift. A Chameloid's physique is unlike that of a Changeling in that a Chameloid is a "solid", with muscles and a skeleton. The skeleton is made of a very strong and flexible cartilage that acts a little like elastic but with no diminishing of its overall strength when "stretched". A Chameloid have more then twice the amount of muscles that a Human has. Chameloids have an amazing knowledge of their race's physique, as well as physiques of other races, and without this knowledge when a Chameloid changes into another species the change would only be superficial. With the knowledge of the physiques of other species, the Chameloid can arrange its muscles to take advantage of that specie’s strengths.
Chameloids can improve minor muscular structures but cannot perform gross changes to the form of the species the Chameloid has adopted. For example a Chameloid can improve a humans eyes so that they can see better and farther or see better in the dark. However when they adopt that form a Chameloid cannot change the eyes so they can see through things on a X-ray band wave. One very curious thing about Chameloid biology is that their genes are dominant no matter what. For example if a Chameloid was to have a child with someone of a different species, the child would have the shape-shifting ability with no diminishing of this trait.
Species History
Chameloids were long thought to be a myth until Captain Kirk met one in a Klingon prison in 2293. In the past Chameloids have worked as spies and other sinister occupations. It is unknown if Chameloids have served in Starfleet as they are extremely rare individuals.
