View Full Version : Healing ~ JP Veska, Bettina, QaDghab
QaDghab had made it through the surgery, though any strength he had remaining before it was pretty much gone at the moment. The pain and bloodloss having drained him. He found himself laying still on the bed, his mind in a haze and very alone. The shocks where gone, as were the spasms. He was glad of that, though it nearly could of killed him that last shock before the device was fully removed. He wondered where the Qel and Bettina were. He needed something to keep him from slipping. He was an old man with years of anguish that haunted the back of his mind. He would hate to waste the Qel's skills only to desire an end. He breathed deeply, but not to deeply, wishing he could speak.

Veska re-entered the room to check on QaDghab. The surgery had gone well, minus the devises attempt to get one last shock in before its removal. She had made some notes in his file about possible solutions to his vocal difficulties but it would ultimately be up to him what he wanted to do. Klingons varied widely in her experience about implants and surgeries that altered their 'badges of battle' and the next step had to be his. Both literally and figuratively she realized. Being that he wasn't on the ship's current manifest, he hadn't been assigned quarters, though Veska was sure they had ones available. She did let security know he was here at least. Ops and the XO would be next in line if security didn't say something to them already. "How are you doing QaDghab?" Veska asked as she approached the elder Klingon.

He mouth formed, he tried a moment to sit up but didn't fully before falling back. He was in pain as well and that was obvious from his reaction when he tried to move. But it was not as painful as when he had the device in him.

Veska frowned at the rate of his healing, but Klingons were unique between how much they wanted healed for them and how much should heal on its own. She produced a large canister from behind her, something she thought might help, though many of the staff would think it counter intuitive, especially given how he was found. “Here,” she said placing the canister next to the bed and moving to help him sit up right. “It may not be a nice mug, but I can assure you that the original container is as it should be. I can bring you more later, but this should help the healing process I would think.” Once QaDghab was sitting upright, she handed the canister of bloodwine to him. “Once you are rested, are you planning to stay on board? Admiral Harmon and Captain Cash will want to know. And we’ll need to get you some quarters.”

With Federation technology, any device we come up with will be quite small and hardly noticeable, but it will be an implant none-the-less. At least this time it would be put in by your choice,” Veska noted. “If you want an implant of course.” She gave QaDghab a smile. “You rest. When you are stronger, we will find you quarters and get you settled in. In the meantime, I am acting Qel on this ship, and do have patients to attend to. I will check in on you frequently though. I am sure once the word spreads that you are here, you will have lots of visitors to keep you company.” She paused for a moment as she considered something. “If your fingers can move quickly enough, I could get you a PADD to make it easier to communicate until we work out something for your voice?”

He took another drink and then started to turn to lay down for rest. He didn't turn well enough though and started to tip off the other side of the bed headfirst.

Minus that last line (of him falling off the bed...:dev-rolleyes:) I thought we could post this part. My last paragraph opens it up for others to come in and visit, for the higher ups to find out he's there...etc. Lots of JP opportunities. :D
Ok well he can catch himself. Might grab Veska to.. or guess can leave it out. Just tend to like twists to much I guess lol.

Bettina had just come in after cleaning Qa'Dghab's armor, then the bathroom, then herself, and as she entered Sickbay, she saw him tumbling over the table and ran forward to catch him, grabbing for his shoulders. While she managed to grab hold of him, she couldn't stop his fall, she managed to control it, collapsing under him, cushioning his fall...unfortunately on her abdomen.
Gasping, she struggled away from him then curled into a ball, clutching her belly as tears sprang to her eyes...

Veska had nodded as Bettina came through the door just before she moved to exit the room. But as she passed through the open door, she heard the woman gasp. Turning mid stride, the half Klingon saw what the aftermath was, though how exactly it happened was beyond her. QaDghab appeared to be leaning on Bettina as if he had been falling off the far side of the bed that did not have the table she had just left QaDghab leaning against.
Moving quickly, as Bettina was clearly in pain, Veska hoisted the full Klingon off the human woman. With a flick of the wrist, she flipped open the medical tricorder that had appeared in her hand from its location in her belt, and began to scan where Bettina was holding her abdomen. “Let’s sit you down,” Veska said gently as she helped Bettina ease into one of the chairs present in the room. “Everything will be fine,’ she assured Bettina as she brought the probe out for a more detailed scan.

QaDghab took a moment for the jarring to his head to clear up before he realized what happened and became alarmed. He struggled to get up. His concern for her strong enough for him to forget and ignore the pain in his torso as he slowly pulled himself up and stumbled towards them. He landed at her feet on his knees and touched her belly. Looking at Veska in way to ask if she and the child would be ok.

QaDghab had made it through the surgery, though any strength he had remaining before it was pretty much gone at the moment. The pain and blood loss having drained him.
QaDghab turned his head slightly to look at her. The scarring on his neck becoming hidden a moment in the folds of skin. "Tired. Can't think. Alone." He mouth formed, he tried a moment to sit up but didn't fully before falling back.
QaDghab nodded, his mouth silently forming the words as he tried to speak. "I stay if can." He said simply. He wanted to be there whenever Bettina had her child. Plus he had friends here. He leaned slightly on the table next to the bed as he took the container and took a few drinks.
Veska nodded. “I will add that to the list. I’ve been working on some possible options for your voice. But it will likely involve an implant.
QaDghab nodded somewhat eagerly. He needed an easier way of talking. Not everyone could read lips. "Implant fine, just want speak." His lips read. He took another drink and then started to turn to lay down for rest. He didn't turn well enough though and started to tip off the other side of the bed headfirst.

"I'm fine..." Still holding her stomach, more from surprise than anything, Bettina let Veska help her to a chair. "Really, Qa'Dghab..." Taking his hand, she squeezed it as she rested back to let Veska do a scan. "It was an accident..."

Veska turned sharply to QaDghab. “Do I have to restrain you to that bed? I’d swear you are trying to die a weak, hapless…being, rather than getting healthy again so you could go out like a Klingon warrior is supposed to,” she said angrily. She tapped her comm. badge to get assistance in returning QaDghab back into his bed.
With a sigh, Veska realized she may have been a bit harsh. “She will be fine,” she said to QaDghab in a more gentle voice as she put the probe back into its cradle on the tricorder. “But *you* need to let your body heal as it’s supposed to before you start doing anything other than lay still.” Turning back to Bettina for a moment, Veska motioned for her to just sit still for a moment while she made sure QaDghab hadn’t just set his recovery back more than just a few hours by his acrobatics.
Superficially it seemed ok, but she ran a deep tissue regenerator over a few areas that had been weakened by his fall and then crawl. “You were lucky this time QaDghab. Both you and Bettina’s child escaped any real harm because of your clumsiness. But next time that may not be the case. You need to be more careful and aware that you are not as young and coordinated as you used to be.”

The twitching and headache were common for him though since the removal of the implant that had been in his brain. He patted Veska's shoulder roughly in thanks. She reminded him of someone a bit, perhaps because of her mixed blood. "My puqbe'..." His lips formed as he tried to look around. He wasn't sure if his memory was correct in thinking she had left the Horizon.

"I don't want to see you do anything but get well enough to walk out of here under your own power and stay that way. THEN we'll see about quarters." Turning back to a calmer Bettina, Veska approached her and crouched down. "Are you feeling better? I can get you something if you're still sore. What you experienced was exaggerated by the quickness it happened and maybe a little extra tenderness that has probably complicated all kinds of things you're used to doing. It will disappear before you know it," Veska assured her.

Moving quickly, as Bettina was clearly in pain, she hoisted the full Klingon off the human woman.
QaDghab nodded slowly, his blind side of face twitching slightly as his good eye blinked back a headache.
"I'm sure your puqbe' would be equally frustrated with you too," Veska scolded gently. Now stay in this bed or I'll sedate you next time," she warned.
"I'm okay." Bettina smiled, rubbing her belly. "Little Bryan Jr. may not agree. He's pretty active." Laughing, she raised her shirt to show the swell in her belly, and the form of the squirming mass beneath. "I think he doesn't want to wait to get out like he should!" she laughed.

QaDghab had made it through the surgery, though any strength he had remaining before it was pretty much gone at the moment. The pain and blood loss having drained him.
QaDghab turned his head slightly to look at her. The scarring on his neck becoming hidden a moment in the folds of skin. "Tired. Can't think. Alone." QaDghab growled unhappily at having to stay here. Though he looked to Bettina, "Can I get something to eat?" He asked. He was starting to get tired, but he was hungry too.

Veska nodded. “I will add that to the list. I’ve been working on some possible options for your voice. But it will likely involve an implant. "I'm sure your puqbe' would be equally frustrated with you too," Veska scolded gently. Now stay in this bed or I'll sedate you next time," she warned.
QaDghab grunted, "I can walk. Just not very Steady." He admitted as he reached over and grabbed the container of bloodwine, drinking deeply a bit. He then looked over at them. Two attractive be'. "I must be very fortunate to have such lovely be' with me." He chuckled.
Veska just shook her head, but a subtle smirk was present on her face. "Unless you two plan to collide once again, which would warrant me tying him into that bed, I have other patients to attend to," Veska stated as she stood back up and looked between the other two in the room.
QaDghab growled unhappily at having to stay here. Though he looked to Bettina, "Can I get something to eat?" He asked. He was starting to get tired, but he was hungry too.
“When you can walk on your own, and steadily,” Veska answered, “then you can eat. Otherwise it is too soon after surgery. You’d just throw it back up again otherwise.” She pocketed her medical tricorder and took one last look around the room. “I’ll be back to check on you later,” she said to QaDghab as she started for the door. “My reports won’t write themselves and with out a CMO at the moment, I need to make rounds.”
(at over 3 pages...I think this is a good stopping point for now. We can always start another one that can let more people in than just the 3 of us or just post enough individually to put it in the main thread.)
